MY elementalist air build for HM
I use this build in conjunction with Sab's necro team with great synergy.
Invoke Lightning
Lightning Orb
Shell shock
blinding flash
epidemic
finish him/pain inverter
glyph of lesser energy
Air attunement
I find that this is espicially useful against destroyers in that it's their melees that hit hardest. I can effectively shut them down and chip off a chunk of their armor, and my minion wall tends to hold them together making them vulnerable to epidemic.
Finish him is good for that instant kill every here and there when used simultaneously with an air spike, and with glyph of lesser energy and attunement you can spam every skill here without energy problems. Problem with this is while it can shut down large mobs effectively, you're going to have to rely on heroes to deal most damage to mobs larger than 5-6. Since Sab's build is so excellent that usually isn't a problem. Against smaller groups it is extremely effective.

I've been taking Blind Surge + epidemic to get rid of melee and ranger enemies and using shell shock on casters to quickly get rid of them when using Sab's build. Works well Destroyers are easy in Hard mode its charr that always kill me.

The thing is, I find blinding surge a waste of an elite. Why do that when flash and epidemic does it better? This way I can spread blind AND shattered armor with 3 skills.

Enervating is also good to get in for weakness. Spreading cracked armor, weakness, and blind in HM will go a long way to helping the team

i have to say from my experience epidemic is a lack luster skill on an ele bar. the range renders it almost useless and well the spread is not that useful without spamming like a hooker, which i think your time would be better spent hashing out dmg the shorten the fight thus lowering the effect the enemies have on your party.
also i dont find air to be the best pve attribute.... i just use water to deal with destoryers cause blurred vision > blinding flash epidemic. and invoke is an alright elite but really there are a few better. but these are just opinions, there is nothing strikingly wrong with your build i just dont see it as all that great.

Epidemic is used to spread weakness and cracked armor too. What water build can do better than that?

It's also wrong on other levels.
Blurred Vision has a 12 second recharge, Blinding Flash is 4 seconds.
Blurred Vision is a hex, and as such is easily removed by Destroyer of Thoughts using Shatter Hex and Hex Eater Vortex.
Blurred Vision only grants a 50% miss rate, versus Blinding Flash's 90% miss rate.
Blurred Vision, even at 16 Water Magic, wont cover itself, unlike Blinding Flash, where you only need 4 points in Air to be able to keep a foe continually blind.
Do you see where I'm going?
I use a similar build to the OP's throughout almost all of Hard Mode, though I switch Invoke for Elemental Attunement so Blinding Flash can be spammed more frequently. I also take Lightning Hammer instead of GoLE. I take Pain Inverter or Light of Deldrimor depending on whether or not I'm in a dungeon.

Most of the pressure and damage in Hard Mode comes from physical damage dealers. Packs or Warriors, Dervish and Assassins lunging at your party. Blinding Flash + Epidemic negates more damage than a monk could only dream of. Packs or Wardens, Raptors, Berserking creatures, Kurzick Warriors in Gyala Hatchery, Afflicted, Stonewolves...all neutralised by blind. Personally I find Air considerably more useful than Water Magic in Hard Mode. It does, however, really require a human to play it, to ensure that the monsters in need of blinding get blinded, and that Epidemic is used wisely. As for enemy casters, Water Magic does have one great trick...Maelstrom - one of the world's most fun spells, though no speccing into Water Magic is even necessary to make use of it's most useful effect.
For Normal Mode, however, Air becomes less useful as the damage from monsters isn't anywhere near as threatening as Hard Mode.
